Dear Comrades,

From the "other United States"--the one composed of millions of underpaid workers who oppose their government's wars, lies and interventions in the affairs of other countries – the Freedom Socialist Party sends you our best wishes for a productive and successful gathering.

You are meeting at a very important time. With the crisis of world capitalism deepening day-by-day from Cyprus to Argentina, the task of building national parties with mass support, a correct program, and a solid grasp of revolutionary strategy and tactics is urgent. This is a huge challenge for all of us, but one that must be undertaken if any of the popular uprisings generated by the current crisis are to achieve workers power.

Speaking as residents of the U.S., we know that our struggle here is inextricably linked with yours and the global fight for socialism, women's freedom and a healthy planet. We recognize that US imperialism/capitalism is the road block to revolution everywhere and the single most reactionary, exploitative force on the planet. But we also know the power that rests with the U.S. working class composed as it is of super-exploited people of color, women, immigrants and gays. When this sector is radicalized and convinced of the need for fundamental change, it will be rapid and irreversible.

In closing, we stand with you in the fight to reclaim the banner of revolutionary socialism and the desire to bring together the scattered forces of Trotskyism into a new International worthy of the name. The need for such an organization has never been greater. We look forward to working with TPR and other groups to build momentum for a solid regroupment of the revolutionary socialist Left.
