[SOUTH AFRICA] UNITARY CALL IN ARGENTINA: MOBILIZATION TO SOUTH AFRICA’S EMBASSY REPUDIATING THE MINERS’ MASSACRE

UNITARY CALL IN ARGENTINA:
MOBILIZATION TO SOUTH AFRICA’S EMBASSY
REPUDIATING THE MINERS’ MASSACRE

Below, we reproduce the e-mail that has been sent by Convergencia Socialista and the Tendencia Piquetera Revolucionaria to al left organizations in Argentina, promoting a unitary call repudiating the massacre of the miners from Marikana-South Africa.

Comrades,

From Convergencia Socialista and the Tendencia Piquetera Revolucionaria we call an open meeting next Tuesday the 21st of August, at 18:30hs, in the Bauen Hotel, in order to promote a mobilization for next Friday the 24th of August at 18:30hs in front of South Africa’s Embassy to repudiate the miners’ massacre, to which we propose the following slogans:

¡Judgment and punishment to all the killers of the 45 South African miners shot in Marikana! Arrest of the police and their commanders who perpetrated the massacre. Arrest of Lonmin’s owners and all the board of directors of the company. Immediate liberation of all the arrested striking miners. Immediate devolution of all the assassinated miners’ bodies to its families.

The company and the government must respond to the miners’ unsatisfied demands. Immediate triplication of the miners’ salary: minimum wage of R 12.500 for platinum miners. Immediate destitution of all the police and politicians involved in the massacre. Immediate resignation of the Police Minister (Nathi Mthethwa) and of Cyril Ramaphosa, member of ANC’s Executive Committee and at the same time non executive director of Lonmin. Repudiation to ANC-SACP government (African National Congress and South African Communist Party), which defends Lonmin, Angloamerican and other mining capitalist companies’ interests. Nationalization without compensation and under workers’ control of Lonmin, Angloamerican and of all mining in South Africa.

Repudiation to the union bureaucracy of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), accomplices in the massacre. Support to all struggling measures the miners take, organized in their own union.

For acts in South Africa’s embassies in the entire world.
